Blended Learning vs Full Remote

At Home Choice Academy, we provide two program options. A blended learning model and a fully remote consult-only model.

Blended learning is a combination of in-class learning and online curriculum. At HCA that means that students will be in class at Home Choice 2 days per week. They will engage with online content curriculum the other 3 days of the week. While in class they will be work collaboratively on projects and activities that are meant to be engaging and rigourous.

Remote learning is working with online curriculum on a fully remote basis. In remote learning there is no in-class experience.

In both programs students work with their learning coach as they work on their online curriculum. They are also assigned to a certificated teacher and will work with that teacher throughout the year in making progress, developing a growth mindset and working on becoming an independent learner and thinker.

Blended Learning

Blended learning is a style of education in which students learn via electronic and online media as well as traditional face-to-face teaching. At HCA this means that your students will be engaged in learning by attending in-class instruction 2 days per week and working with an online learning system at home 3 days per week.

●Your child will be assigned a classroom placement and will attend class in-person (when we are able to shift to a hybrid or full in person schedule) *During the remote learning time period, in-class learning will shift to virtual instruction to support and enhance the digital curriculum via Google Meet. Virtual class will occur on the day of your assigned in-class experience (M/Th or T/F).

●Additional support will be offered to enhance the online curriculum: including (individual/small group/family support and possible small group in person sessions as deemed safe)

●Monthly Progress reports will track learning toward course completion.

Additional classroom based learning and experiences will be available via Google Classroom.

Full Remote (consult only)

In our full remote option students engage in curriculum via an online learning system. Students meet with their assigned certified teacher or designee at least once a week to discuss instruction, progress and strategies to foster student independence and successful academic learning.

●Your student will be enrolled full time in our Online Learning System (K-12 or APEX) and engage with rigorous content on a daily basis with an automated schedule that is customizable to your needs.

●The Learning Coach has the primary responsibility of maintaining daily student learning and progression through curriculum with the support of a certificated teacher.

At a minimum the student will have contact with a certificated teacher once a week to check on progress and learning goals.

●Monthly Progress reports will track learning toward course completion.
